World of Trucks Launches Cruising South Dakota Community Event

Following the release of the South Dakota DLC, World of Trucks is inviting players to take part in its newest community event: Cruising South Dakota, kicking off on Thursday, September 24. The event challenges the American Truck Simulator community to roll through the Mount Rushmore State and experience its landscapes and history.

The Challenge

Players are tasked with hauling cargo to or from any city in South Dakota, with the community aiming for a collective goal of 150,000,000 miles (241,402,000 km). Deliveries can be completed using External Contracts or the External Market, allowing players to also take part with their own trailer.

The route takes drivers across vast prairies, the rugged Black Hills, and the Badlands, with long crossings over the Missouri River along the way. The region carries deep historical significance as well — the Black Hills, known to the Lakota people as Paha Sapa, are considered sacred ground, while Badlands National Park is home to one of the richest fossil beds in the world, including the site where the T. rex specimen known as SUE was discovered.

Highlights along the route include Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Badlands National Park, the historic gold rush town of Deadwood, and multiple crossings of the Missouri River.

Personal Goal and Rules

The South Dakota DLC includes 13 cities, and completing deliveries to or from all of them unlocks a personal goal reward. All jobs counted toward the event must be at least 100 miles (161 km) long, and progress can be tracked through the Log Book on a player's World of Trucks profile.

Rewards

Players who complete deliveries to or from all 13 South Dakota cities will earn a World of Trucks Achievement along with a "Call of the Badlands" ATS truck paint job as a Steam inventory item.

If the community reaches its overall goal of 150,000,000 miles, players who also completed their personal goal will additionally receive a Ring-necked Pheasant Steam inventory item. Rewards can be claimed on the Events page of a player's World of Trucks profile once conditions are met, and completion must occur specifically in American Truck Simulator to qualify.

Event Duration

Cruising South Dakota runs from September 24 and concludes on Sunday, November 22 at 23:59 UTC. Players are encouraged to share screenshots and videos from their journey on SCS Software's social media channels.
