Project Motor Racing Version 2.2 Brings Major LMDh Rework

Project Motor Racing has received its latest major update with the release of Version 2.2. The new update brings the first major stage of the game's LMDh class rework, while also moving VR and Triple Screen support into Beta and introducing a wide range of stability improvements, gameplay fixes, and online enhancements. πŸŽοΈπŸ”§

A Major Step for LMDh

The headline feature of Version 2.2 is a comprehensive overhaul of the LMDh class. Straight4 Studios has reworked almost every major aspect of the cars in an effort to improve their behaviour, responsiveness, and communication with the driver.

The changes cover the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Motor Generator Unit (MGU) regeneration, brake-by-wire system, power delivery, aerodynamics, tyres, suspension, and chassis dynamics. The update also introduces a new tyre model with three compounds and a redesigned aerodynamic model with greater pitch sensitivity.

Improved Hybrid and Driving Physics

The LMDh changes go deeper than a simple handling adjustment. MGU regeneration now responds dynamically to speed, downforce, and lateral G-forces, helping prevent unwanted instability and wheel lockups.

The ICE has also received improvements to its inertia, throttle response, engine braking, and power delivery. Brake-by-wire functionality has been refined as well, while new default setups and revised traction control and ABS settings aim to provide a better starting point for drivers.

Straight4 Studios describes Version 2.2 as the first stage of a wider LMDh overhaul, with further car-specific refinements planned for future updates.

VR and Triple Screen Enter Beta

Another major change comes to VR and Triple Screen support. Previously available only through command-line instructions while in an experimental Alpha state, both features are now moving into Beta.

PC players no longer need additional launch commands. VR and Triple Screen options can now be enabled directly through the game's settings menu, making the features significantly easier to access.

GT3 Improvements

The GT3 class has also received a number of fixes and refinements. These include improved tyre behaviour, better wet-weather performance, reduced overheating issues, and more realistic grip characteristics.

Issues such as tyre temperatures rising while cars were stationary and cars having two reverse gears have also been addressed. Wet tyres now react more quickly and are more susceptible to overheating when driven in dry conditions.

Smarter AI and Better Online Racing

Version 2.2 also improves the behaviour of AI opponents. Pit strategy has been refined, blue and yellow flag behaviour has been improved, and AI drivers are now better able to overtake slower cars during multi-class races. San Marino and Mount Panorama have also received AI pace and behaviour improvements.

Online racing receives new lobby filtering options, while players who cause a collision after a jump start can now receive a disqualification. Factory Driver mode has also received several improvements, including better lap-time submission and a new countdown for challenges.

More Than Just Physics

The update also includes improvements to vehicle visuals, environment details, audio, Career Mode, HUD elements, and general gameplay stability. High-speed road and wind effects have been enhanced across all cars, while several issues affecting menus, replays, controller inputs, and race displays have been fixed.

Version 2.2 Is Available Now

Project Motor Racing Version 2.2 is now available, delivering one of the game's most significant physics updates yet. With the LMDh class receiving its first major overhaul and VR and Triple Screen becoming easier to access, the update lays the groundwork for further improvements in future versions.

For LMDh fans in particular, Version 2.2 marks the beginning of a much deeper transformation of the game's fastest prototype class. 🏁
