Beans & Alpacas Expansion Gameplay and Machines Preview Revealed
Farming Simulator 25 is preparing to take players to South America with the upcoming Beans & Alpacas Expansion. During FarmCon, developers Manuel Leithner and Stefan Maurus presented an extensive gameplay and machinery preview, revealing new crops, animals, production systems, and vehicles coming with the expansion. ☕🦙🚜
A New Way to Grow Coffee
One of the biggest additions in the Beans & Alpacas Expansion is the new coffee production system. Coffee plantations introduce a new type of orchard gameplay, complete with specialized planting, maintenance, harvesting, and processing mechanics.
Setting up plantations has also been made more accessible thanks to the new Boundary Painting system. Instead of manually calculating planting lines and angles, players can define the boundaries of their orchard while the game automatically handles the layout. Planting can also be carried out throughout the entire year, providing more flexibility when establishing coffee plantations.
Keep Your Coffee Plants Healthy
Coffee plants won't simply grow without attention. The expansion introduces plant diseases, including fungal infections that can affect the leaves of coffee plants.
To protect their plantations, players will need to purchase fungicides and regularly treat their crops using specialized equipment such as the KUHN AFS 600. At least one treatment per year is required to keep the plants healthy and maintain a productive plantation.
From Coffee Cherries to Coffee Beans
Harvesting coffee also requires specialized machinery. The Case IH Coffee Express 200 Multi is designed specifically for collecting coffee cherries from the narrow plantation rows.
Additional equipment such as the Colombo CTG 4500 helps transport the harvested crop through the tight rows before the coffee is either sold directly or taken to a processing facility. There, the coffee cherries can be dried and transformed into valuable coffee beans, creating a brand-new production chain for players to manage.
Meet the Alpacas
Coffee isn't the only new addition to the farm. The expansion introduces alpacas as a completely new animal species. Players can raise alpacas in four different colors: white, grey, brown, and beige, alongside adorable young alpacas. 🦙
Alpacas are primarily fed with grass and hay, making them relatively straightforward to care for. However, keeping them happy involves more than simply providing food and shelter.
An Interactive Shearing Experience
Once their wool has grown, alpacas can be taken to their enclosure using a leash and prepared for shearing. The expansion introduces an interactive alpaca shearing minigame, where players need to carefully operate the shearing equipment while avoiding overheating the machine.
Successfully completing the process produces wool pallets, providing another valuable resource that can be used within the farm's production chain.
Taking alpacas out for regular walks also increases their happiness level, adding another small but engaging element to animal care.
Sugarcane Gets a Major Upgrade
Sugarcane farming is also receiving several important improvements with the expansion. One of the biggest additions is the John Deere CH950, a harvester capable of harvesting two rows of sugarcane simultaneously, significantly improving efficiency in the field.
The developers have also upgraded the visual presentation of sugarcane. Leaves, soil textures, and unloading effects have all been improved to provide a more detailed and convincing harvesting experience.
Vehicle physics have received attention as well, with more realistic vehicle weights, suspension movement, and trailer behavior designed to make heavy machinery feel more authentic while working in the field.
A New Fleet for South America
The Beans & Alpacas Expansion brings a wide selection of machinery designed to complement its South American setting. Among the vehicles showcased during the FarmCon presentation are several notable additions.
The Ford Ranger XL joins the game as a simple and durable pickup designed for the South American market, providing a practical vehicle for everyday farm work.
The New Holland 8030 and Valtra BH HiTech add specialized tractor configurations, including versions designed without traditional cabs and models featuring wider track configurations.
For heavier transport duties, players can turn to the Mercedes-Benz Zetros, available in both 4x4 and 6x6 configurations, offering serious off-road capability for demanding terrain.
The expansion also introduces the John Deere 8R and 8RX series in both wheeled and tracked configurations. These tractors can be equipped with integrated liquid fertilizer tanks and paired with the John Deere 3131 FT planter for specialized fieldwork.
