Ford Capri RS3100 Joins Project Motor Racing

Project Motor Racing is bringing another motorsport icon to its growing vehicle roster. The legendary 1973 Ford Capri RS3100 will join the simulation on June 23rd as part of the upcoming GT Icons Pack, giving players the opportunity to experience one of the most celebrated touring cars of the 1970s. 🏁

A Touring Car Legend Returns

Nicknamed the European Mustang, the Ford Capri became a symbol of performance and accessibility throughout the early 1970s. However, the RS3100 was far more than a road-going sports coupe. Developed specifically for homologation purposes, it was engineered to transform the Capri into a serious racing contender on some of Europe's most demanding circuits.

Built for Competition

Only 250 road-going examples of the RS3100 were produced, allowing Ford to meet FIA homologation requirements for international competition. Under the hood sat a powerful 3.1-liter Essex V6, laying the foundation for the car's successful racing career.

The competition versions pushed performance even further, featuring the famous Cosworth GAA V6 engine that produced up to 450 horsepower. Combined with aggressive bodywork and improved aerodynamics, the Capri RS3100 quickly became one of the most feared touring cars of its era.

Dominating the Golden Age of Touring Cars

Throughout the mid-1970s, the Capri RS3100 established itself as a major force in European touring car racing. Its blend of power, handling, and unmistakable styling helped it secure numerous victories while cementing its status as a fan favorite among racing enthusiasts.

The car's success at circuits across Europe made it one of Ford's most memorable competition vehicles and a true icon of the golden age of touring car racing.

A Pure Driving Experience

According to the developers, the Capri RS3100 delivers an authentic old-school racing experience. Its front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout rewards smooth driving inputs while demanding precise control under braking, acceleration, and cornering.

Without the electronic driving aids found in modern race cars, players will need to rely on skill, timing, and vehicle balance to unlock the car's full potential on the track.

Arriving June 23 with the GT Icons Pack

The Ford Capri RS3100 will be available as part of the GT Icons Pack, launching on June 23rd for Project Motor Racing. The pack celebrates some of motorsport's most iconic machines, bringing legendary race cars from different eras into the simulation.
